I passed Exam 70-668

Yesterday i passed the exam 70-668 PRO: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Administrator and other than i thought it is easier for me than the 70-668.

This exam was easier for me cause it's more oriented towards business requirements. Server farms, Authentication and so on. The exam is divided by testlets and every testlet has 1 or max 4 question to answer, depending on the amount of question you have to answer you get a certain amount of time that you have to be able to answer all questions! If you go to the next question you cant review the testlet question anymore. I had 16 testlet question and 10 normal questions. The testlet explain a business need or scenario and you have to propose a solution (your answer). Although the possible answers still try to trick you if you read the question really good you should be able by exclusion to give the right answer. You have to carefully read the question and most of the time they ask for:

  • minimum amount of administrative effort
  • minimize the number of Web applications and site collections
  • minimize downtime
  • must minimize costs

So just pay attention to those small things, cause this can make a answer change.

This exam i tried to learn with MeasureUp, but other than get used to the multiple choice i don't think its a good tool to prepare for Exam. The only good thing i like about MeasureUp is that the answers are well explained with links to online topics.

I have two more Exams to go:

For the Developer Certification you need two exams
Exam 70-573: TS: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Application Development
Exam 70-576: PRO: Designing and Developing Microsoft SharePoint 2010 Applications

I'll keep you posted!

I passed Exam 70-667

Yesterday I passed the exam TS: Microsoft SharePoint 2010, Configuring with 950/1000. Even i know a lot and i learned a lot with MCTS Self-Paced Training Kit (Exam 70-667) the questions are somehow not really fair. The questions try to trick you by giving you answer options that you would not apply in real world. I guess what i want to say is: The book prepares you technically to go to the exam but you still need to deal with question that are not straight and you need to guess the best answer.

I am scheduled for the 70-668 next week, we will see what happens there, cause this will probably be even worse, cause there you will have to read the exhibits first before you can answer questions!

SharePoint Re-Certification

So here I am with 2 new task’s in my business life. First, I finally started my own blog and second, I want to recertify in SharePoint Administrator and Developer.

Last week I attend a SharePoint Administrator Camp Live classroom. Before I signed up and paid for this course I did due diligence, I even asked for the CV of the instructor. It was clearly stated on the website of this company that the course was to take the exam of SharePoint. I pretty soon recognized that they are far away to prepare the students from taking the exam. I specifically mentioned right at the beginning that my primary goal is to take the exams! This was a pretty bad course as far as for preparing for the exams. After a couple of phone calls and emails they finally paid me 50% back of my money. Of course I cancelled the SharePoint Developer Camp. What a loss of money and specially time.

I am signing up for a new live class room MCITP: SharePoint 2010 Administrator & MCDP: SharePoint 2010 Developer with a other institute, 14 days of training, I am excited. I will let you know how this class was!
